A PUBLIC Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the High Court, Jabalpur challenging constitutional validity of section 129 of he Motor Vehicle Act 1988 that makes it binding on two-wheelers riders to wear headgear/helmet. The PIL seeks direction to quash section 129 for violating provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of India that guarantees equality before the law. The PIL quotes the judgment of international courts against mandatory wearing of helmets saying that an individual has liberty. HTC

Child's body parts found

SEVERED BODY parts of a child, allegedly abducted a week ago from Ummedgarh Vansi village near Morena were found scattered in a field, police said today. The culprits cut off the victim, 10-year-old Dharmendra's limbs and head and threw them in the fields, police said. The matter came to light when villagers saw a dog running around with a body part yesterday. A case of abduction and murder has been registered, police added. PTI

School ransacked, 2 beaten

A GROUP of seven-eight miscreants ransacked Vidya Niketan school in Purani Chawani , Gwalior and severelybeat up two guards of the school on We3dnesday night. The guards were admitted to hospital. Guards Suresh and Devi Singh were found lying injured in the school compound in the morning by the gardener who informed the police. The guards told the police the assault appears to be the result of dispute. HTC

Four hurt in group clash

FOUR PERSONS sustained injuries in a clash between two groups over an old rivalry at village Jatakhera near Sehore today, police said. Two groups attacked each other with sticks and sharp-edged weapons this morning, they said. The injured were rushed to a hospital here and a case was registered at rural mandi police station, police added. PTI

A SPECIAL court in Narsinghpur district has issued an arrest warrant against two persons including the Nagar Panchayat vice president of Gotegaon and another person for the alleged rape of a Dalit woman.
