Khola

In Sikkim the most reliable source for drinking water is a khola or a tank.

The local people use bamboo pipes, an ingeniously evolved of transporting water to households. The bamboo pipes have, however, been replaced by rubber ones in recent times.

In Dongzu region of north Sikkim, the practice of having household tanks is very popular. They are called khups.
