SIMI activist handed over to police

The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Saturday arrested an activist of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Mohammad Khaleel Mohammad Ismail.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Saturday arrested an activist of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Mohammad Khaleel Mohammad Ismail, who is wanted in some cases in Khandwa district in Madhya Pradesh.

Acting on a tip off, ATS squad led by police inspector Purushottam Choudhary, apprehended the 32-year-old in Washim district and brought to city.

He was produced before a local court which set him free as there were no charges against him in city, ATS sources said.

The waiting policemen from Khandwa immediately arrested him and took him to Khandwa, sources added.
