Another elegant southpaw in the squad, Katich was fortunate to be given his second chance at Test level against Zimbabwe when Darren Lehmann was ruled out by injury.

Many people would have expected Martin Love to be called up, instead Katich got the nod because of the extra bowling option provided by him.

Katich is aware it is his batting which holds the key to his hopes of further chances at Test level, and a first-class average of 50 shows he has the necessary ability.

In 2004, he was part of the touring Australian side in India. Though overshadowed by the exploits of Michael Clarke, he nonetheless did good, the highlight being his 99 runs in the third Test at Nagpur.
