Six candidates today filed their nominations for the first phase Lok Sabha elections on April 20, election office sources said.

Prominent among those to file their nominations were sitting MPs S K Bwismuthiary, an independent candidate from Bodo-dominated Kokrajhar, and lottery baron Mani Kumar Subba, a sitting Congress candidate from Tezpur.
Among others to file their nominations are BJP's Ranjit Thakuria and independent Dr Tara Prasad Das from Barpeta along with AGP's Padma Hazarika and independent Dr Kosehswar Bora from Tezpur.
The total number of nominations filed so far in the state was seven with no nominations filed for the Gauhati, Dhubri and Mangaldoi seats so far.
The six of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies that go to the polls in the first phase are Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Mangaldoi, Gauhati and Tezpur.
With only two days left for the filing of nominations to end on March 31, the Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the prestigious Gauhati parliamentary constituency where BJP has fielded Dada Saheb Phalke awardee Dr Bhupen Hazarika while the Asom Gana Parishad has nominated Bhrigu Kumar Phukan who returned to the party on March 27.
