This Navratri, break your fast with aloo chaat, pakore and even brownies and pizzas, as restaurants across the Capital offer special saatvik menus for the festive season.

With Navatri celebrations underway in the Capital, fasting is no longer boring! City restaurants are offering special Navratri menus — with special starters, drinks, desserts and even fast food. Here’s a list of places across the city, where you can enjoy the festival with a lot more than just saatvik cuisine. Plan according to your pocket!

While here, go for a Navratri south Indian food treat! Try the Navratri Special combo of two fluffy rice idlis, masala dosa, rava kesari for dessert, and buttermilk served with sambar without onion or garlic. The ‘No Onion-No Garlic’ range also includes rava and kanchipuram idlis, plain, rava plain and masala dosas, curd rice, tamarind rice and desserts. With options from ala carte as well as the thali, the restaurant has a complete full course meal to choose from. You can choose from kuttu ke aate ke pakore and paneer tikka kesari. The restaurant is offering a special saatvik menu with regional delicacies for the festival. Also, there’s a special food and drinks menu. The main highlight of the drinks menu is the special fruit lassi that is made of a mix of juices with yoghurt.

This Indian restaurant on Sohna Road, offers the Navratra Thali with delicacies like aloo pulao, kache kele ki sabzi, malai paneer, malai kofta with kuttu ki roti and singade ka halwa. The view from the first floor is breathtaking with the red and black interiors keep the mood cheerful.

Called Purani Dilli ki Sabz Galli, the festival is being celebrated here, with a special menu for Navratras. If you’re looking for variety, try the lavish Navratra Buffet during lunch hours, for an unlimited supply of starters, main course and desserts. The menu has aloo sabutdana ki tikki, kele ke kofte, masaledar arbi, paneer mewa bhurji with kuttu ki poori or cheela, and sabutdana aloo ki khichdi. At night, they offer a thali with shakarkandi aur sukhe mewe ki tikki, khatta sitaphal, banana raita and saffron milk or ananas lassi. The chef keeps rotating the dishes and drinks everyday to keep a variety.

This north-Indian restaurant hasintroduced many Navratra thalis for the guests. The Special Navratra thali has 10 dishes, including two starters like paneer tikka and sabudana tikki, curries like ShakargandiKorma and Dum Aloo Dahi Mirch, followed by Lauki ki Kheer. The Deluxe thali has more additions like the aloo anardana in starters, and makhane ki kheer for dessert. As you savour your meal, enjoy the vintage view and the royal photographs lining the walls.

The sweet shop’s special Navratri menu, including main course, snacks, chaat and a range of desserts, make it a hit during the festivities. Apart from the Navratra thali, chaat lovers can try the kuttu papdi chaat, special lacha tokri, crisp potatoes or the chena chaat (soft chenna balls with curd and tangy sauce). The swang ke chawal served with raita or potato curry is another must have. The Ghiya Burfi is for those with a sweet tooth. But be prepared to brave the crowds or stand while you eat.

It will be followed by a thali of three vegetables, raita, papad, salad, poori, rice and a sweet dish.

Baker’s Street

Though the place doesn’t serve fast food, you can tickle your taste buds with purely vegetarian (eggless) and lip smacking menu to set in the festive mood. There’s pineapple pastry, chocó chip soufflé, and custard cream with fresh fruit. Also try brownie with ice cream and apple strudel, a sweet or savoury layered pastry with a filling inside.

The restaurant has introduced its own fun way to say no to grains, salts, onions and garlic, with their special Navratri menu. The setting here is unique with food served on silver coloured chowkis (low stools) as you settle comfortably on the soft floor cushions. Also, you can shop for some traditional weaves like Chanderi Silk, Tussar, Block print from the Saree Utsav for the festive season. Or dance to the dandiya beats by a live DJ from September 30 to October 2. You can rent the costumes and sticks.

Those who want their meal in the form of a platter should come here. With special preparations for the festival, the restaurant has platters with a difference. The Navratri thali platter comprises of kuttu poori, aloo mattar, ajwaini arbi (colocassia), kache kele ke kabab, dahi pakori, cut fruits (include seasonal fruits) with a glass of lassi.
