“Only the DMK-led DPA in the state would be able to ensure that every single citizen in the state was empowered to live with dignity, security and pride”, she said in her address tonight at DMK’s ninth conference which concluded its three-day meet today. Gandhi was the special invitee to the meeting.

The Congress chief said, “the coalition needs your support so that it could ensure welfare and well-being to all sections of society in your beautiful state particularly the poor, agricultural workers, Scheduled caste, OBCs and minorities.”
Gandhi said the UPA government came to power at the Centre because of the ‘massive mandate and support’ given by the people of Tamil Nadu in the last Lok Sabha polls.

Karunanidhi was the ‘main architect’ of DPA in Tamil Nadu and UPA at the national level. “He commands great respect because of his wisdom, vast political experience and administrative ability”.
