BJP MLA Rajiv Kumar Singh switches sides
THE SAMAJWADI Party today won over one more legislators from the Opposition camp with PWD Minister Shivpal Singh inducting BJP MLA Rajiv Kumar Singh into the party. Earlier, five MLAs had deserted saffron brigade to join the SP.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the SP general secretary said more MLAs would soon join the party. He said these MLAs would further strengthen the party. However, the fate of these deserters was yet to be decided in the State Assembly as floor crossing was in clear violation of the Anti-Defection Law.
Rajiv Kumar said if required he would resign from the House membership. He was elected on a BJP ticket from the Dariyabad Assembly segment in Barabanki.
Referring to Sonia Gandhi’s ‘jail bharo’ call at the Bareilly rally, Yadav said the Congress had no constructive programme in the State.
Asserting that UP under the leadership of Mulayam Singh Yadav was well governed, the PWD minister said developmental activities and law and order were in bad condition in Congress-ruled states. Yadav also assailed the UPA Government for not sanctioning any new scheme during the last three years.
On VP Singh’s campaign against the State Government, Yadav said as chief minister and later as Prime Minister “he did nothing for the State”.
VP Singh is scheduled to launch two-month long anti-Mulayam Singh yatra from Deoria to Dadri on September 23.
