Reacting to Mamata Baneerjee's appeal to Mulayam Singh Yadav to back the NDA, party General Seceratary Amar Singh said, "there is no question of giving any support directly or indirectly to divisive and communal forces which will go to any extent to grab power."

Singh recalled the Supreme Court order on Gujarat riot cases "clearly implicating BJP as modern day Neroes of Indian politics."

He said "the deliberate and desperate statement of the Prime Minister that there is no ideological difference between SP and BJP is nothing but an attempt to confuse traditional SP voters."

Singh said SP firmly opposes installation of NDA government after the polls at any cost.

Amar Singh's statement came soon after the campaign ended for the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
