Talking to mediapersons, SP district president Chandrabali Yadav said the Congress had brought shame on the nation by voting against Iran and had virtually succumbed to pressure of international forces. He also said India’s credibility had suffered a dent at the international forum. He said Iran was a traditional friend, who always stood by India in times of crises. But, India had not supported Iran at a crucial juncture.
Yadav said the SP would take out a cycle rally from February 21 to expose the misdeeds of the UPA Government. Party leaders will go to the villages to convey the message of chief minister Mulayam Singh that the UPA Government was hindering transformation of Uttar Pradesh into Uttam Pradesh, he said.
Continuing his offensive, Chandrabali exhorted party workers to come forward and give a befitting reply to the propaganda of Opposition parties against the SP.
He alleged the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party were conspiring to dislodge the state government.
He said the zila panchayat chairmen’s election results had proved the Samajwadi Party’s popularity.
A meeting of all senior leaders of the party, including former MPs and office-bearers, was convened at the party office on February 16 to discuss a strategy for launching an offensive to counter the propaganda of Opposition parties and to highlight the Mulayam Singh Government’s decision.
He said the party was determined to revitalise all its frontal organisations.
‘Debate Babbar issue’FORMER MEGHALAYA Governor and socialist leader Madhukar Dighe said he had requested the Samajwadi Party’s disciplinary committee to examine points raised by Raj Babbar.
He said Babbar had raised basic issues directly related to the party’s future and there was a need to debate these. At one time, Dighe was spokesperson of the SP. Former SP Jan Parishad district president Fateh Bahadur Singh said the time had come to check forces which were undermining the SP.
