SP to consolidate backward class vote bank

Addressing several gatherings here, Siddiqui had accused the SP of cheating 16 most backward class castes and said it was SP’s deep-rooted conspiracy to withdraw the backward caste status from these 16 castes to provide benefits to only one particular caste in the recruitment drive carried out by the State government.

Coordinator of the SP conference and State working committee member of the party, Yogendra Chauhan, said the chief minister was honest in his move to provide Scheduled Caste status to 16 most backward castes including Kevat, Mallah, Nishad, Kashyap, Bind and Rajbhar and it was the Congress that had filed a case against the move.

Chauhan said on July 26, a meeting of backward class was held in the chairmanship of MP Ram Narain Sahu when it was decided to expose the double standards of Congress and BSP.

District secretary of the party, Rajnish Yadav, and treasurer Rajesh Singh Sainthwar, claimed that Mulayam Singh Yadav was the true well-wisher of backward classes. He started Kanya Vidya Dhan scheme and unemployment allowances etc to uplift the backward classes. He appealed to the people to ensure the success of the proposed conference.
