Spice trader?s staff robbed of cash in Cantt

IN A daring loot, three motorcycle-borne armed miscreants waylaid a matador and robbed Rs 90,000 being carried by the employees of a branded masala agency in Cantonment on Sunday evening.
The cops suspect role of one of the employees behind the incident and the latter were being quizzed since night.
The incident came into light when Mithilesh Kumar, who owns the agency at Khurdahi Bazar in Gosainganj, reached the Cantonment police station late on Sunday night. Narrating the sequence of event, Mithilesh informed the police that he had sent salesman Sushil alias Banwari to deliver the goods at Indira Nagar along with driver Tarun Dwivedi and another employee Subhash on Sunday evening. They were carrying the goods in a matador. The employees had to deliver the supplies and were also asked to collect the dues from different shops.
Mithilesh further said the trio was returning after collecting the money when three youths riding a mobike waylaid the matador on Sultanpur Road around 7.45 pm. Two of the youths dragged the driver down on the road and assaulted him brutally. The duo also beat up the salesman Sushil and Subhash.
Later, one of the miscreants got into the vehicle carrying a country-made pistol in his hand. The miscreant did not inquire anything from the salesman or Subhash and opened the box fabricated especially under the seat. He pulled out from there Rs 90,000 wrapped in a polythene bag and left the vehicle issuing life threats to the employees.
The trio fled the scene with the booty.
The employees reached their employer and narrated the incident to him. The latter initially went to the local police outpost in Gosainganj, where he was asked to inform the Cantonment police.
SP (East) Ajay Shanker Rai said the way miscreants collected the cash from a specific place without even asking anything from the employees indicated involvement of one of the victims in the loot. The cops were quizzing all three employees and hoped to get clue leading to the robbers, Rai said.
