State gets Rs 120 cr for computer installation

INSTALLATION OF computer network from the State capital to block headquarters will be completed in next six months. The exercise in government departments is being undertaken with a view to providing efficient services and facilities to public. The Centre has made available Rs 120 crore for scheme.

This was informed at a meeting of Madhya Pradesh Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (MAPIT) held at Mantralaya on Tuesday. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired the meeting. The committee is constituted to promote the Information Technology.

Under the scheme, a plan is being prepared for computer training to government employees on a big scale. Over 1.80 lakh employees would be imparted computer training in phases in the next three years.

The State Government received Rs 28.17 crore from the Centre under the scheme for promoting e-governance. Finance Minister Raghavji, IT Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni, Principal Secretary, Finance Sumit Bose; Principal Secretary, IT, Padamveer Singh and Chief Minister’s secretary Anurag Jain also attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that cyber treasury had facilitated online payment of different taxes and duties. The Commercial Taxes Department had begun making online payment through this facility.
