Statue desecration issue rocks Rajya Sabha

The desecration of Ambedkar's statue at Kanpur continued to rock Rajya Sabha with the House adjourning twice.

As soon as the House met for the day, BSP members led by their leader Mayawati raised the issue and trooped into the well. Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said the Question Hour should not be disrupted.

He said nothing other than queries raised during Question Hour would go on record.

SP members also shouted slogans and as the din continued. Shekhawat adjourned the House for 20 minutes. When the House met again, BSP members trooped into the well demanding a CBI probe into the matter.

Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan adjourned the House again till noon.
