?Stop work on Maheshwar dam?

DEMANDING THAT Madhya Pradesh government should immediately stop the work on Maheshwar dam, establish the beneficiality of Maheshwar project and a land based rehabilitation plan, a large number of people, under the aegis of Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) on Tuesday took out a huge rally at Mandaleshwar town, three kms from the Shri Maheshwar Hydel Project site on the Narmada river.

The people also submitted a memorandum — addressed to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan — to the SDM Mandaleshwar threatening to undertake satyagraha and closure of work on the dam through peaceful civil disobedience if the government failed to meet their demands.
