Student dies during PT exam in Ghaziabad
A student of 12th standard died on Saturday while appearing for his physical education examination in Ghaziabad district, police said.
Pavnish Kumar Panewar of TRM Public School in Modinagar, died while appearing for his athletic test which was being conducted under the supervision of CBSE appointed teacher, they said.
The victim, hailing from Painga village under Niwari police station, allegedly fell down during the run and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, sources said.
However, police officials said the student died due to negligence of school authorities.
The student was neither given medical aid nor was taken to hospital, circle officer Kapil Dev told PTI.
Dev said the student died due to negligence of teachers and principal.
School was closed after the incident and an FIR was lodged against the school management including the principal on charge of negligence, police said.
The 60-year-old lady principal, Nirmal Dubey, who was taken into custody, however denied charges of negligence and said the victim did not complain of any physical problem before the run, and was rushed to hospital within 20 minutes after he fell down.
Chairman of school management Vinod Maheshwari, who was out of town, also denied any kind of negligence on part of the school.
