A CLASS 9 student of a private school in Nanda Nagar was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by a student from the same school on the campus on Friday.
The victim, Vishal Soni (15) son of Sukhram Soni, a peon with the irrigation department, residing in 835 Janata Quarters, was a student of Sant Charit Private School situated adjacent to Government Gol School Nanda Nagar. The Vishal’s brother Rahul, who also attended the same school, has told the police that another student Priyank Tiwari (17) studying in Class 12 had committed the crime and claimed that he had even threatened his brother with a knife on Thursday.
The incident occurred at about 1.30 pm when the school was nearly empty due to preparations for annual function in the evening. Classes had been suspended and there was very low student and staff turnout, with most being involved in annual function activities. The murderer apparently planned his move in advance and chose an occasion where he knew he would get hold of Vishal.
Rahul alleged that his brother Vishal and Priyank being of same age were friends earlier but had parted ways after a dispute. He claimed that Priyank waited for Soni in the school corridor and entered into a heated altercation with him.
The fight was ignored by all who saw it as being a normal fight between two schoolchildren. However, the war of words suddenly turned violent and Priyank brought out a knife hidden under his clothes and stabbed Vishal on the neck and shoulder. Seeing Vishal fall down in a pool of blood he fled.
Children from the local colony playing on the vacant school grounds and teachers present in the school heard Vishal’s cries. The police were informed. The police later brought Vishal to Life Line Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The body was later sent to MY Hospital for post mortem. Bystanders accused the school administration and police of not immediately rushing him to the nearby Sri Nagar Hospital leading to death caused by excessive bleeding. However, none came forward to speak about on the incident.
Pardeshipura TI S L Kataria told Hindustan Times, “The motive behind the attack is not clear but what has been gathered so far points towards Priyank being angry with Vishal for having an affair with his sister. However, Priyank has not been directly named by anyone except the deceased’s brother.
Priyank would not have been linked to the crime had circumstantial evidence not pointed towards him and his going missing further proved the fact. The police acting on the complaint lodged by the brother are on the lookout for Priyank.
