Students to be educated about AIDS

WITH AN aim to check spreading of dreaded disease AIDS among the students and also acknowledge the preventive measures, a large-scale childhood education programme ?Kishoravatha Siksha Karyakrm? will be launched in aided and government secondary schools of the Uttar Pradesh.

WITH AN aim to check spreading of dreaded disease AIDS among the students and also acknowledge the preventive measures, a large-scale childhood education programme ‘Kishoravatha Siksha Karyakrm’ will be launched in aided and government secondary schools of the Uttar Pradesh. The programme is being supported by the UNICEF and UP AIDS Control Society. Under this programme, students studying in the said secondary schools in class IX to XII will be taught about childhood education including sex-related education.

A childhood education syllabus has been prepared considering the right to know about the childhood and information in detail about sex-related information.

General information about the sexual disease and measures for self-defense from HIV infection has also been included in this syllabus.

Besides, students will also be taught to remain alert from the baseless information about their childhood and sex-related developments. The students will also be informed regarding measures and their quarries, which will assist in fighting AIDS, and encourage them to find out ways to protract themselves from AIDS.

The state secondary education department had also instructed to include the said information in social science subject for students of class IX and X and for class XI and XII with the physical education subject.

A letter sent to joint director (education) Kanpur division, stated that teachers regarding the said subject have been trained at State and districts level. Now the nodal teachers from each school two outstanding students from class IX and XI (pear educators) would be trained. These trained teachers and pear educators would impart training among the students of their schools on each Saturday in the last period before leaving schools.

The budgetary allocation has been marked about Rs 1.361 core for the said education programme in 5028 secondary schools all over State including 4479 aided school across the State. This includes Rs 1.257 core for school level activities and Rs 10.45 lakh for district level advocacy meetings.
