Feminine tops add panache to dull wardrobes by determining whether you look sexy, saucy, romantic, or all of the above.

It’s not easy choosing clothes that can tell the world you’re chic, feminine, saucy, sexy. Skirts can be too feminine, trousers too chic. How do you get it right? Fashion gurus have a solution. They say getting the right look is really about choosing the right top paired with whatever you’re in the mood to wear.
Be it a top label like Giorgio Armani or Versace, or a popular brand such as FCUK or Juicy Couture, the look that’s in is soft and romantic.

“Women have bodies toned and sculptured in the gym, so a top that flaunts a beautiful body is very attractive,” says fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani. His corsets and chiffon tops have been a hit with the P3Ps this summer.

A look at markets from Ambavatta complex in Mehrauli to 1 M.G. Road, and from West Side in Lajpat Nagar to Mango in South Extension, shows that soft and feminine blouses are finding favour. Sheer chiffon and georgette are teamed with delicate laces and frills, plunging necklines are lined with crochet, bustiers are done up with sequins, and linens crushed in strategic places to give a clingy fall.
The trend now is to wear close-fitted denims cut low, so you obviously want to team it up with an equally sexy top,” says designer Malini Ramani, who prefers working with stretch fabrics. “I have designed tops in stretch satins, which is mostly imported, or lycra. I love teaming these fabrics with chiffon. For instance, I have the back in stretch material with chiffon falling in the front in pleats or frills. It gives a snug fit and looks fabulous.”

So, pack away those graffiti tees and go for the softer look. It’s girl power or bust, literally.
