THE SUDARSHAN Chakra Corps of the Army here is organising a reunion of its corps commanders from December 8 to 10. The General Officers who have commanded this prestigious corps since its raising in May 1990 will recount events of the period of their command.

They will also see for themselves as to how their planning has contributed in evolving the Sudarshan Chakra Corps into an effective fighting machine.
They will be briefed on the various projects undertaken by the corps that transformed Bhopal into one of the finest military stations in the country.
A number of events relating to various facets of the corps have been planned over the three-day reunion. These will include a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sudarshan Chakra Memorial in remembrance of its martyrs and a presentation on activities of the corps.
The visitors will also be briefed on the progress of Neori Hills (now re-christened as Dronachal), the permanent location of the Corps Headquarters Complex and other projects undertaken by the corps post Operation Parakram. A rich exchange of views is expected.
The Sudarshan Chakra Environment Park and Training Area (SCEPTA) is a major project undertaken for greening and long-term ecological development of the area.
This encompasses the Defence Services Officers’ Institute, training and sporting facilities to include angling, boating, swimming, squash, tennis, an 18-hole golf course, a gymnasium, a multipurpose sports complex, field craft training area, a small arms fighting range and eventually an equestrian complex set in an area of over 300 acres comprising man-made lakes, ponds, deep woods, glades and nature trails.
The reunion will be attended by former Corps Commanders like Gen N C Vij, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, the ex-Chief of the Army Staff and presently Vice Chairman National Disaster Management Authority; Lt Gen K M Seth, PVSM, AVSM, Governor of Chhattisgarh; Lt Gen Aditya Singh, AVSM and Bar, ADC, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command; LT Gen G L Bakshi, PVSM; Lt Gen Chandra Shekhar, PVSM, AVSM; Lt Gen A S Kalkat, SYSM, AVSM, VSM; Lt Gen R K Gulati, PVSM; and Lt Gen P P S Bhandari, AVSM.
Lt Gen H S Panag, AVSM, the present Corps Commander, will be the chief host. All formation commanders of the corps will also attend the reunion.
