“A case under clause 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971, was registered against Bharat Gohil,” said an official with a city police station.

A complaint in this regard was registered by another Surat resident, Aziz Cyclewala, on Sunday. The Pet Run was organised by Pet Lovers Group Surat ahead of a pet marathon scheduled for February 13.

Wrapped in the Tricolour, Gohil’s Labrador drew more attention than other fancily dressed pets. Many vernacular newspapers carried pictures of the dog.

Cyclewala then filed a complaint based on these newspaper reports.
