Himachal’s lad Suresh Rana once again proved his mature racing approach to win the 13th edition Raide De Himalayas one toughest motor sport event in the world.
In the four wheelers x-treme category Suresh Rana and Ashwin Naik logged in with a penalty time of 12.42.36, while Harpreet Bawa with his navigator Virender Kashyap finished second, Indian army team Lt Col Shakti Bajaj and navigator Maj BN Prakash finished the day in third position.
Today the luck did not favor the winner of the 11th Raid Major AS Brar maintained a lead to remain in the second position till thi day three of the rally . With his car developing technical snag Bras on day four had to opt out of the car rally.
Austrian participants that last year were criticized for their casual approach in the rally this time proved their mettle. Austrian national Helmut Frauwallner emerged victorious in the tow wheeler category giving tough time Ashish Moudhgil to win the biker category for the first time.
With his maiden win Helmut Frauwallner became the first foreigner to win the motor sport event that was flagged off from Shimla on – by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal from Hotel Peterhoff.
It was Austrian again to win the third position in the bikers X-treme category. Austrian Lehner Gottfried beating Suresh Babu who till the end of day four was in the race. Gottfried finished. The event was flagged of on October 11 here at shimla and ended at Srinagar on Sunday, and organizer RS Dhaliwal said that the event had concluded safely.
