SWAMY LODHI, brother of Bharatiya Janata Party’s expelled leader Uma Bharti, and his associates have been booked in a ‘loot case’ involving Rs 19 lakh on Monday. The police have detained Lodhi’s gunman. The jeep used in the ‘crime’ has also been seized. A hunt has been launched for the accused.

According to Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Rai, the loot case was registered against Swamy Lodhi, his gunman, Basantar Rajput and a few other persons.

According to the SP, as per the complaint lodged by a local resident Yogendra Jain, Swamy Lodhi had purchased a certain piece of land from Jain. Its registry was done on Monday.

After the registry when Jain was returning, Lodhi and his men allegedly snatched the bag of money from the complainant and fled.

Jain attempted staging a road blockade with his supporters but was persuaded by the police against it. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case. A jeep has been recovered from the spot and the Lodhi’s gunman has been detained in the police station. Rai said police teams would be sent to in search for Lodhi.

Reacting to alleged loot, Congress MLA Ajay Singh said it speaks volumes of poor law and order situation in the State.

Stating that the ruling BJP leaders were now openly indulging in incidents of loot, he said that case against Lodhi
and his accomplices was registered after a lot of dilly-dallying. Singh demanded immediate arrest of Swami Lodhi and accomplices and said that the Chief Minister should also clarify in what capacity he has been provided with an official car with red beacon and also security personnel.

Expressing grave concern over the incident, he said it was unfortunate for the State that a former BJP MLA, who is elder brother of former a chief minister, indulged in such an incident.
