Tailor-made jackets for champions

Campbell Jamieson, the ICC General Manager —Commercial, said at the unveiling of the Champions Trophy here on Thursday: “A tailor will be present at the ground to take measurements of the winning team and the winners’ jackets would be presented at the presentation ceremony.

“This is the first ever time ICC would be presenting winner’s jacket to the victorious players.” South Africa captain Graeme Smith with his ex-team-mates Jonty Rhodes and Shaun Pollock launched the jacket, designed by Indian Babita M in Johannesburg on August 13.

Besides, the winning team will get a purse of $2 million (approx 9.7 crores) or four times that of the 2006 prize money. The runners-up will earn $1 million (approx Rs 4.8 crore).

The losing semifinalists take home $4 lakh each (Rs 19 lakh). The third-placed team in each of the two groups takes home $1 lakh each (Rs 48 lakhs).
