What is the main aim of the NCC?
To build a strong youth force that aims at 'Nation Building'. A cadet, apart from academic achievements gets to excel in various types of challenging competitions both individual and in groups. The communication skills of the cadet are also developed so that he can strive and live in any nook and corner of the world. It aims to develop qualities of character, courage, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and selfless service among the youth.

What are the incentives offered?
The NCC offers incentives for national and international exposure to the cadets in order to give them an opportunity to bring out their hidden potential through the 'Youth exchange programmes' in UK, Canada, Singapore, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Besides, 'Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, National Integration Camp, Foreign Cruises for Naval Cadets, parasailing, and of course, the Republic Day camp at the national level can also be attended by the NCC cadets.

What role does NCC play in a cadet's life?
The NCC through its regular training not only develops punctuality but also inner discipline which consists of truthfulness. One great disadvantage of our nation is that we lack in group activities. We sometimes lack in ability to work in a team. The NCC through its training camps and activities of drill, adventure activities etc. develops and inculcates the spirit of team work. The NCC also organises various treks and mountaineering, parasailing events. Such activities enthuse the youth and inspire them to work in a team

How do national integration camps help?
The National Integration camps inculcate the spirit of Indianness, respect for fellow citizens' language, customs, food habits, culture and religion, thus achieving national integration and comradeship. The adventure activities develop in them qualities of initiative, value and love for national heritage and mental agility. It makes the youth more alert.

Are schools promoting NCC in true spirit?
At least Boys' High School and College can claim to be contributing its bit in this regard. Our cadets have been known for taking the NCC seriously and at least 75 of them have already joined IMA and NDA recently.

Many others have joined streams like medical and engineering in Army. We are conducting regular coaching for those who aspire to serve nation through defence services. As step one, we ensure NCC training is imparted here in the best of form.
