"We have decided to pick the team for the first Test on the second day of the tour match (at Dharmasala). We would by then have watched the first few rounds of the Duleep Trophy tournament too," national selection committee chairman Kiran More said on Sunday.
The former Indian wicket-keeper also welcomed the move of the Indian cricket board to advance the Duleep Trophy with a view to prepare the Indian players for the tough series against Pakistan.
"It is a good move by the board (BCCI) to play the Duleep Trophy in place of the (Ranji) one-day matches as this will help the players get into the first-class mode before the series against Pakistan," he said.
More also said the wicket prepared at the Wankhede Stadium for the N K P Salve Challenger limited over tournament appeared to be a good one.
"It looks a good wicket and we would get to watch some good cricket," he added.
