The half burnt bodies of 16-year-old Rekha and Sonu were found from a haystack in a maize field in Kakode area of village Bair in Noida, police sources said.

A police complaint lodged by the boy's father alleged that the girl's father and some of his relatives had killed the two and later set their bodies afire.

An FIR has been registered and the bodies sent for post-mortem, the sources said, adding the the suspects were absconding.

The incident sparked tension in the area prompting authorities to deploy a heavy police contingent.

While the girl belonged to the Jatav caste, the boy was from Khatik community, the sources said, ruling out the caste angle as the reason for the girl's family opposing the affair.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspects, the sources added.
