While police arrested four persons for provoking violence and seized the idol of Nandi and Shivlingam, situation in the area was reported as tense but under control.

According to sources, one Kusuma Devi and her kin had started building a temple on a barren plot which they claimed to be theirs. This morning when Kusuma Devi and other local residents tried to establish the Shivlingam in a religious ceremony at the plot, another group of Kamla Devi and her sons Babloo and Nankoo reached the spot and objected to the construction of the temple. They too laid their claim over the plot where the religious ceremony was being held at that time.

Heated arguments between the two groups sparked tension in the area. On getting the information, Chakeri police rushed to the spot and seized the idols.

However, this only added fuel to the fire and people started shouting anti-police slogans. They alleged that police was supporting anti-social elements who had disturbed peace in the area. While police arrested four persons on charges of provoking violence, SO Chakeri RK Singh said the SDM and lekhpal would decide who was the owner of the plot.
