One terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces while three persons received minor injuries in a grenade blast in Jammu and Kashmir since Wednesday night, an official spokesman said.

A terrorist, identified as Abdul Qayum Khan, was killed in a gunbattle with security forces at Zafran Colony in Panthachowk area of the city late Wednesday night, the spokesman said.

One AK rifle, two magazines, five rounds and two hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorist, the spokesman said.

Terrorists hurled a grenade towards a security forces patrol in Sopore town of Baramulla district, injuring three passers-by, official sources said.

Security forces recovered two M-16 rockets from Soap-Shali bridge in Anantnag district during a routine patrol of the area, the sources said.

Two terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested during a search operation in Pampore area of Pulwama district, they said.

Security forces recovered a one-kg IED along with detonators and a timer device fitted in plastic contained under a heap of stones near boys secondary school in Poonch town. A bomb disposal squad neutralised the explosive safely, the sources said.

In another operation, security forces recovered 548 rounds, two AK magazines, six IED receivers and 20 UBGL rounds at Arai village in Mandi sector of Poonch district, the sources added.
