Thicker wallets for IIM-A graduates

The highest offer a student has got this year has touched $185,000 per annum for an overseas job with Barclays Capital.

Salaries offered to the graduating students at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, have already gone through the roof this year even as only a day has passed since the annual placement session began on Wednesday.

Though the officials at the premier B-School are reluctant to disclose the actual figures, it is learnt that the highest offer to any student this year has touched an all-time high of $185,000 per annum for an overseas job with Barclays Capital.

Sources revealed that the placements are not only likely to be very good but the salaries offered are expected to be considerably higher than last year. Attributing it to the booming economy, the source said similar trends would be visible in the placements of engineering graduates too.
