Three farmers commit suicide in Vidarbha

Three debt-ridden farmers of west Vidarbha region have committed suicide during the last three days.

Three debt-ridden farmers in cotton rich belt of west Vidarbha region of Maharashtra have committed suicide during the last three days, police has said.

45-year old debt-ridden farmer Narayan Namdeo Khambalkar, resident of Bibkheda village in Risod tehsil area of Washim district committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at his field on Friday, they said.

The deceased had five acres of agricultural land and was burdened with loan, his family sources said.

Rameshwar Jagannath Hade (53), resident of Rohinkhed village in Buldana district consumed poison on Thursday, police said. He had two acres of agricultural land and was unable to repay loans due to crop damage.

Another farmer Shrikrishna Shaligram Farpat (50) of Khandwi village near Nandura tehsil town in bordering Buldana district too consumed poison in his field on Wednesday, they said.
