Laxmi Devi, 32, a resident of Harlagora village, jumped into a well with her children - two daughters aged 8 and 5 and five-month-old Rahul.

"There was nothing to feed my children. They had not eaten anything for seven days. When my children sought food, I felt humiliated and decided to commit suicide," Laxmi told the local media.

While villagers rescued Laxmi Devi, the children could not be saved.

Laxmi Devi's husband is jobless, and the children had been hungry for the last few days, police sources said.
