Though there were no casualties because of the incident, the impact caused damage to around 100 mts of railing and footpath of the bridge, they said, adding that a team of structural engineers and technical experts are examining the bridge.

District Collector Dilip Raval said that his officials are looking into the cause of the incident which could have been the result of high-tide yesterday, because of which the anchors might have snapped.

He, however, said that actual cause will be known after thorough investigation into the incident.

Rawal said that the primary inspection by the structural engineers of the local Roads and Building (R & B) Department, have shown that there was no structural damage to the bridge.

He further said that a team of technical experts from the state capital have already arrived here and are inspecting the bridge. Their report is expected soon, Rawal added.
