TN CM announces Rs 5 lakh relief to martyred jawan's family

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for the family of an Army jawan, hailing from the state, killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for the family of an Army jawan, hailing from the state, killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

Naik P Selvakumar, from Thanjavur District, was martyred during an encounter in Baramullah district of Jammu and Kashmir in February, an official release here said.

The compensation would be released from the Kargil Relief Fund, the release added.
