He questioned why clerics “shied away” from issuing fatwa against Osama bin Laden, Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salah-u-Din and Maulana Masood Azhar whose involvement in terrorist acts elsewhere had been “proved beyond doubt”. He called upon Hindus to protest against anti-national forces in a democratic manner.
Togadia visited the blast site at Sankat Mochan Temple to pay obeisance to Lord Hanuman.
He alleged madarsas “where jehad was preached were responsible for such attacks”. He said the government should ban madarsas and arrest clerics engaged in preaching jehad.
He said jehad against the Hindu community had been continuing since the time of Mohammad Ghaznavi and Mohammad Ghauri.“Jehad against Hindus means exploding bombs at temples,” he said.
He said his organisation would launch a movement against jehadis. “We have drafted a textbook ‘Islam X-ray’ in which the ideology of jehad is described,” he said, adding that this book would be distributed among Hindus in May to keep them abreast of the ‘jehadi’ goings-on in India’.
He said VHP volunteers would set up security outposts (suraksha chaukis) across the country to help police trace out anti-national elements.
He did not blame any political party for terrorism in the country. “I am not blaming any political party for terrorist attacks. All political parties should jointly fight the scourge,” he said.
