Tragedy averted with recovery of 15 IEDs in J&K

Security forces on Saturday recovered 15 remote control Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and 44 grenades of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) in Banihal area of Ramban district, a defence spokesman said in Jammu.

Acting on a tip off, Rashtriya Rifle (RR) troops launched search operation in Nari village of Banihal tehsil in the district this morning, Lt Col S D Goswami said.



During the search operation, the troops recovered huge cache of explosives from a nullah in Nari area, he said, adding these were dumped in the area by militants for use later to create disturbances in the state.



A major tragedy has been averted with the recovery of these explosives, the spokesman said, adding however, search operation was continuing in the area to track down the militants.
