Tributes paid to Kshitindra Nath Mazumdar

These observations were made by renowned artist Prof Ram Chandra Shukla at a function organised on the occasion of 115th birth anniversary of Kalaguru Kshitindra Nath Mazumdar at Allahabad University Delegacy Hall on Monday.
While painting, Mazumdar used to get so much surcharged with emotions that he would start dancing and singing and make people laugh, Prof Shukla said. He often told his disciples not to make art the medium of livelihood. Instead, bring awareness in people about the significance of art, he would say.
Presiding over the programme Justice Sudhir Narain Agrawal said he felt proud to be a disciple of Mazumdar. He recalled many incidents related to him. Justice Agrawal advised the new generation of artists to undertake art work for the sake of art to fulfill the dreams of Mazumdar.
Head of the Fine Arts Department of Allahabad University, Dr RK Vishwakarma said that Mazumdar’s portraits were full of religious feelings.
Noted artist Dr Shaym Bihari Agrawal said that Mazumdar was a simple and egoless personality. The seeds of art sown by him were now blooming, he said.
Vice-chairman of State Lalit Kala Akademi and secretary of AU Delegacy, Dr Ajay Jaitely said that Mazumdar was a magician with colours and brush as his tools.
Among others who also expressed their views were son of late Mazumdar, RN Mazumdar , Dananjay Chopra and Anand Jaiswal. Earlier Prof Shukla inaugurated the exhibition displaying the paintings of late Mazumdar.
AU notice: AU Proctor Prof Jata Shankar informed that severe checking is being conducted daily on the AU campus by the proctorial board and policemen.
Students should carry their identity cards or fee receipts in case identity card is not ready. Strict action will be taken against those found without identity cards.
The students should park their vehicles in the stand and the vehicles parked in front and of the AU gate will be penalised.
Prof Jata Shankar informed the students of the varsity and inmates of the hostels that ragging is a serious crime and action under the Ragging Act will be initiated against offenders.
