Tripathi fears rigging during poll
STATE BJP president Keshri Nath Tripathi on Monday alleged that the Samajwadi Party (SP) has planned to rig the Nagar Nigam polls to be held tomorrow.
STATE BJP president Keshri Nath Tripathi on Monday alleged that the Samajwadi Party (SP) has planned to rig the Nagar Nigam polls to be held tomorrow.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Tripathi alleged three station officers, having close links with SP and posted in Pratapgarh district, were called in the city to help the help the SP to rig the election.
He named the police officials as Dhanajay Singh, Bhuveneshwar Pandey and Ravi Bhushan Srivastava who were asked to come to the city to serve ruling party’s interest in the areas dominated by the BJP voters . They allegedly asked those policemen to help the ruling party in Allenganj, Teliyarganj and Civil Lines areas dominated by the BJP voters.
Besides, Tripathi said he had come to know that a policeman Rajesh Rai was sent to Daraganj area for tomorrow’s polling. Tripathi expressed his apprehension about the Samajwadi Party indulging in violence during the polling.
He charged the district administration with failing to follow the model code of conduct. He gave an example of a public meeting addressed by an SP leader with loudspeakers in George Town on Monday in the presence of police.
However, the district magistrate maintained silence. The party had already apprised the State Election Commission of that malpractice, he added.
Referring to the plan of rigging by SP leaders in elections, the senior BJP leader said in one of the polling centres in Rajrooppur seven booths were sent in earlier elections.
But this time, only one booth was set up and seven new booths were created at a school just in front of SP MP’s house in Chakia.
Tripathi also accused the United Democratic Front of adapting appeasement policy and added it was no different from the SP and the Congress.
Tripathi demanded a CBI probe into disclosures made in former intelligence chief MN Dhar’s book that one chief minister and 12 MLAs of the Central North India were ISI members.
Tripathi also accused the Central government of delaying the hanging of Afzal Guru, convicted in Parliament attack case, in view of forthcoming Vidhan Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh.
He said instead of a traitor, Afzal Guru was being portrayed as a leader of a particular community. “And by protecting him, the Congress wants to get support of that community,” he added.
Addressing election meetings of BJP candidate Vijay Kumar Mishra at Chakbhatahi, Anandnagar, Prayagpuram and Chak Lal Mohammad on Sunday, Tripathi said while the Congress was protecting traitors for getting votes, the State government was run by mafia and criminals.
