Besides, some companies of RAF, PAC and other forces have been deployed at polling booths to ensure smooth polling on Tuesday. “We are certainly apprehending trouble in Gazipur, Ballia, Azamgarh and Jaunpur due to its track record”, Sharma told Hindustan Times on phone, adding, “Massive security arrangements have to been put in place in all 10 districts including these four, so that no untoward incident takes place during polling.”

He said mobile police parties had been pressed into service and thorough checking of vehicles had been ordered. “There would be massive checkings at all entry points to other districts during the polling”, he said and debunked some political parties apprehension about misuse of the government machinery.

The boundaries of the districts would be sealed from 12 midnight to 5 pm on Tuesday, the official said. Flag march by security personnel had been taken out in Varanasi and other districts today as a confidence building measure for polls, he said.

As many as three additional SPs, 13 COs, one assistant superintendent of police, 7 inspectors, 300 sub inspectors, 37 sub inspectors ministerial (SMI), 1274 constables, 323 chaukidars, 2 companies of PAC and one company of reserved force had been deployed for civic body election in Varanasi alone.
