After interviewing the three officers — whose names were forwarded to the Raj Bhawan by Allahabad High Court recently — the Governor is believed to have short-listed one officer and his name might soon be forwarded to the court.

The Governor’s move to interview may pave the way for ending the ongoing standoff between Raj Bhawan and Allahabad High Court over the issue of relieving additional legal advisor Pradeep Dubey.

The Raj Bhawan had refused to relieve Dubey despite the HC order to transfer and subsequently place him under suspension.

The question doing rounds now is whether the two sides will call it a truce over the Dubey issue. The Dubey case will come up for hearing in the Supreme Court early next month following the Allahabad High Court’s application urging the apex court to expeditiously hear the case.
