Two hardcore ULFA militants killed

Two hardcore ULFA militants were shot dead in an encounter in Assam's Kamrup district today, official sources said on Monday.

Two hardcore ULFA militants were shot dead in an encounter in Assam's Kamrup district today, official sources said here.

Based on specific information, troops of Red Horns Division based at Darrangamela laid an ambush in Aranga Nala area and observed suspicious movement early this morning.

On being challenged, the militants opened indiscriminate firing and attempted to flee leading to an encounter in which two ULFA militants were killed.

Search operations in the area led to the recovery of one AK-56 rifle and a Chinese pistol, the sources added.
