Two more LPG storages

The city will soon have two more LPG godowns at Sector 9-A and Sector 37-II. Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has invited applications to build LPG storages in these areas.

The city will soon have two more LPG godowns at Sector 9-A and Sector 37-II. Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) has invited applications to build LPG storages in these areas. At present, the city has 23 LPG gas godowns. According to sources, Huda is shortly to allocate sites for the LPG storages.

Huda officials did not say anything whether the authority would seek suggestion or objection from residents.

Residents of the city have been raising the issue of nuisance due to LPG storages in residential sectors. "We are not going to allow any LPG agency to build a godown in our residential area," said Col (retd) Ram Singh, president of RWA Sector 9-A.

An LPG godown at Sector 28 is giving sleepless nights to residents. "The storage is located in the middle of the colony. A gas explosion can cause a number of casualties," said BR Handa, former member of Sector 28 RWA.
