WOMEN TEACHERS will be appointed as invigilators at every examination centre during the High School and Intermediate examinations of UP Board this year commencing from March 4.

This step has been taken in view of the inconvenience faced by the girl examinees at the examination centres, said the UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad Secretary, Vasudev Yadav. The District Inspector Of Schools (DIOS) have been instructed to post at least two lady invigilators at every exam centre.
Besides, for the first time every teacher-invigilator would be given an identity card for invigilation duty at the centre. Teachers without having their identity cards would not be allowed entry into 8000 Board examination centres spread all over the State. The I-Cards would be issued by the Centre Superintendent.
The teacher's subject would also be mentioned in the I-Card in order to bar him from invigilation duty on the day of his subject's examination.
This would help in checking the invigilators from helping the examinees to a great extent. Besides, no clerical staff would be allowed to come into the examination hall at the time of examination.
Disciplinary action would be taken against those found violating the norms, said the Board Secretary.
Flying squads would be formed at district as well as the State level to conduct surprise inspection at any of examination centres. Administrative officers may also visit the examination centres.
Notably, as many as 46 lakh examinees ( 28 lakh for High School and 18 lakh for Intermediate) will be appearing in the UP Board examinations at their self-centres this year. Ten lakh examinees have increased for 2006 examination as compared to 2005.
Notably, 90 per cent invigilators at the examination centre would belong to other colleges. At aided colleges, the principals would be appointed as the centre superintendents while in non-aided colleges, an outside teacher would be appointed as the centre superintendent. The principal of non-aided institution would work as assistant superintendent, the Board secretary informed.
