UHBVN imposes R11-lakh fine on 35 for stealing power
A team of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) on Thursday imposed a fine of Rs 11 lakh on 35 people of Sunaria village of the district after finding them guilty of stealing electricity using indirect methods.

VS Maan, SE of UHBVN, said: "The department has been receiving serious complaints of power thefts from the village. So, a joint team of nigam and vigilance wings raided the suspected locations and imposed a fine on defaulters."
He said the defaulters could be tracked after the joint team launched an intensive search in the village under the police security. A spokesperson for the department said that the joint team would continue the intensive search throughout the month for defaulters stealing electricity.
