The cause is close to the hearts of the Trowbridge restaurant staff members, many of whom have relatives whose lives have been disrupted by the disaster.

Muzib Rahman, the restaurant's proprietor, said: "We want to raise as much money as possible in the evening, which we will send directly to the people who are affected.

"That way we can be sure that as much money as possible is going towards helping people get back to normal."

The restaurant is charging 39.95 pounds a couple for the event to be held Sep 14.

"Every bit of the money will be sent out to the flood victims," said Rahman. "There will be no deductions from the total for staff pay or ingredients.

"Every penny we take will directly help those who need it.

"We are also looking for donated raffle prizes to raise as much as we possibly can on the night."
