An official of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation was arrested by the anti-corruption bureau on charges of accepting bribe from a consumer, police sources said on Wednesday.

Junior Engineer Siyaram Maurya was arrested from near the Chowkaghat power sub-station soon after he allegedly accepted Rs 1000 as illegal gratification from a consumer Abdullah Bukhari, an owner of a powerloom, sources said.
Maurya had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5000 from Bukhari for correcting his electricity bill of Rs 26,000.
