UP Vidhan Sabha passes Rs 4,897-cr supplimentary demands

Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha passed the second supplementary demands for the year 2008-2009 amounting to Rs 4,897 crore by a voice vote even as the main opposition, Samajwadi Party staged a walk-out.

The demands, which were tabled in the House on February 13 by the Finace Minister Lalji Verma have provision of Rs 104 crores for constructing statues of greatmen (BSP icons), Rs 248 crore for renovation of Dr Bhimral Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal, Rs 250 crore for Savitribai Balika Shiksha Madad Yojna and another Rs 150 crore for Mayamaya Balika Ashirwad Yojna.

The Samajwadi Party members had earlier staged a walkout led by their deputy leader Ambika Chaudhary, who said supplimentary demands were irrelevant.
