THE FINAL semester examinations of B Tech conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) concluded here on Friday. Now the examinees are awaiting the announcement of the dates for practical examinations which are to be held by the end of this month. This is for the first time that the university succeeded in conducting the examinations in a very disciplined and peaceful manner throughout the state.

Over 20,000 examinees appeared at the B Tech examinations this year. Due to the strict security measures adopted by the university for the delivery of question papers at the examination centres, not a single question paper could be leaked out in any district of the State.

Tight security completely ruled out use of unfair means and mass copying and invigilators and members of the flying squad, assisted by the district authorities, ensured fair examinations at all the centres. The university has also decided to declare all the results by the end of July to ensure the regularisation of the next academic session.

Most of the students of the technical institutes affiliated to UPTU have been successful in getting opportunities to undergo summer training with prestigious companies of the country. The highest number of students selected for the summer training were from Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI).

Companies like the IBM have offered summer training to the students of HBTI.

Professor and incharge of placement cell, HBTI, Dr JSP Rai told HT that about 100 students were given placements during the current session in the past one and a half months. Many more companies which were to visit the campus had to postpone the placement process due to university examinations and also because of summer vacations.

Fresh campus interviews will begin from August and continue till December.

Dr Rai said that almost all the students would get placement in the second phase. Only the students who preferred MTech or taking up private family business would not appear at the campus recruitment. But there was no possibility of not getting placement for those who appeared at the interview .

He said, “We are proud of our educational standards and the personality-building of the students. These twin factors help the students get placement every year.”
