US condemns Tel Aviv bombing

The White House has warned the Hamas-led Palestinian Govt against defending or sponsoring 'terrorist acts'.

The White House on Monday warned the Hamas-led Palestinian government against defending or sponsoring "terrorist acts" following a suicide bombing in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv that claimed nine lives.

"We have noted reactions by several Palestinian terrorist groups, including Hamas, that defend or even applaud the barbaric act of terror committed in Tel Aviv today, as we have noted (Palestinian Authority President Mahmud) Abbas's quick denunciation of it," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters.

"Defence or sponsorship of terrorist acts by officials of the Palestinian cabinet will have the gravest effects on relations between the Palestinian Authority and all states seeking peace in the Middle East," he said, without specifying the consequences.
