Used cars get Dhanteras pickup !

AND YOU thought only new cars are sold on Dhanteras? Not really. About 100 second-hand cars from the ?Maruti True Value? are ready for Dhanteras sale. And the bookings for the same started as early as September this year.

About 100 second-hand cars from the “Maruti True Value” are ready for Dhanteras sale. And the bookings for the same started as early as September this year.

The top-selling brands in the used car segment are Maruti Alto and Wagon R. But, Maruti 800 has dropped off the popularity chart with barely 5 bookings to go. The entry-level Maruti-800 had an impressive sales prformance last year in the used car segment— As many as 50 sold in a day during the festive season..

“We are offering a gold coin with every used Maruti car booked for delivery on Dhanteras. “The market for used cars during Dhanteras is now considered as good as new cars,” comments KTL Pvt Ltd manager Sanjay Mishra.

He says there is also a demand for used cars in the “C” segment with Maruti Esteem taking the lead with some bookings even for Baleno.

On the other hand, Automartindia, a joint venture of Mahindra Group, HDFC and Sah & Sanghi which follows a “multi-brand” approach to selling used cars began its two-day “Used Car Mela” today for delivering vehicles on Dhanteras with finance options from the ICICI Bank Car Loans.

“We received queries from customers for Santro models besides some very old Maruti 800s in the price range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 at the “used car mela” on the inaugural day.

The cars currently in great demand are the Maruti Alto and Wagon R”, says Narain Automobiles manager Vikas Chandra.

“We do get customers coming to our showroom with old cars which are then referred to Automartindia or the Maruti
